MY INSPIRATION FOR KEN'S SHACK
Whether hunting, fishing, camping, or traveling, spending time outdoors in Michigan has given me many fond and lasting memories. When I decorated my place, I used a mix of carefully chosen secondhand treasures and creatively repurposed finds. I created this site to share those discoveries, practical ideas, and personal projects — and to connect with others who love nature, wilderness living, and the simple, satisfying joys of outdoor life.

“WHAT WE CAN EASILY SEE IS ONLY A SMALL PERCENTAGE OF WHAT IS POSSIBLE. IMAGINATION IS HAVING THE VISION TO SEE WHAT IS JUST BELOW THE SURFACE TO PICTURE THAT WHICH IS ESSENTIAL, BUT INVISIBLE TO THE EYE.
Buddy was our rescue dog. He loved to play, patrolled the property daily, and was Max’s best friend. Buddy died 10/16/2016 after months of cancer treatment.
Max was my first four-legged child. He loved rides and walks by the lake. He was 14 years old and waited faithfully by the window every day. I loved seeing his face when I pulled into the drive—he knew we were going out again. Max passed away 9/22/2017. "We miss him so much."
Several good books I found at a thrift store to read after losing a faithful companion — in memory of Maverick, Max, Buddy, Toby.

There are many things that have inspired me: family and friends, people I’ve met, and places I’ve been lucky enough to visit.
I ALWAYS LOVED WORKING WITH WOOD WHICH CREATED THE PASSION FOR THE OUTDOOR LIFE, CABINS, CABIN DECOR, WILDERNESS ART, FURNITURE,BOAT BUILDING AND MORE.
SPECIAL PEOPLE I’VE HAD IN MY LIFE INSPIRED THE CREATIVE PATH I LOVE
I WAS ALWAYS THINKING HOW ONE DAY I MIGHT OPEN A SHOP WITH MY CHILDREN TO CREATE MORE UNIQUE THINGS TO SHARE WITH OTHERS.
